During a short moment of random internet browsing I stumbled upon this jewel. It is simply the most wonderfully crafted commercial I've seen in ages. The look and feel of it is simply unprecedented. And when you watch the short making-of video, it all becomes even more wonderful, and you can replace 'crafted' with 'handcrafted'. Following is a still from the ad.
The commercial was made using laser-cut animated elements in a real-life modelled world. All shot using a DSLR on a motion-controlled rig. This stop-motion combination of 2D and '3D' works like magic. I dare any great animation studio to produce a feature animation using this 2D/3D technique (and style) - and I'll most certainly be watching that!
